This is a surprise hit with both my 2 and 4 year old. I thought it would be more like a flashlight which they like to play with but I wanted something more durable built like a toy. It's actually not a flashlight at all. You turn the yellow cap on the head of it to rotate between patterns, and press a green button to see the red signal appear - there's a cobra, an eagle, a brick wall and 2 useless logos that would have been more fun if they were images or patterns instead. The kids love to aim it at the floor, walls, ceiling and press the button to see it appear. They like to hold it close to the surface and move it farther away to see the pattern go from small to big and back again. My 2 year old asked if he could sleep with it the first day he got it. I didn't give them the rocket launcher, just threw it out and kept that hatch closed, didn't mention it.
