We bought this toy on recommendation from my brother, who has a daughter that is a month older than my son. He was 2 1/2 months old at the time and immediately took to it. It is now one of his favorite toys. He holds it well in both hands as it is flexible and the "tubing" is small enough for him to hold. He is able to mouth and chew the toy both when sitting up and laying down.
